RP14th IKV Lead Parade: Move to Inspire
Posted by RP Tesoro on 5/8/2011 9:30:42 PM

Kids can`t help but move. They roam around a lot; they play and sometimes, they vanish from even under your very nose. However, kids are also capable of one thing - they can move hearts.

This is just what they did at the IKV Lead Parade, a segment during the IKV where the kids dance in a parade/cheer dance fashion, presenting unique cultural elements from their regions.

Imagine a dancer. Now, imagine that same dancer accompanied with a hundred more. Imagine how they move in perfect precision and how they glide along the stage with ease. It’s a beautiful image, but it gets even better, because these dancers aren’t even professional performers. They’re kids. They probably haven’t even danced in front of a crowd of 7,000 people, but they’re strong-willed. They know what they’re doing, and why they’re doing it and importantly, whom they’re doing it for.

“Seeing them dance in the stage felt very fulfilling. They have been through a lot, it has been two weeks of rigorous practice, and there have been lots of problems along the way. But the kids, they stayed strong because they knew they were doing it for God,” was Amy Lacerna’s reply when asked about how it felt like while witnessing the KFCs from Davao perform. Amy Lacerna is just one of the hundreds of KFC coordinators who were present at the recently-concluded 14th IKV.

Vibrant, electric, and festive are three words that could best describe the Lead Parade. However, for one who realizes the hardships and the struggles that these kids have been through just to proclaim their faith through dance, the Praise Parade was more than just a splash of colours – it was an event that aimed to inspire.

“I feel so happy right now,” Ariane Gementiza, 12, from Metro Manila South Sector said. “I’ve been in the community for 8 years but this is my first time to dance in front of everyone. It feels different because this time, it’s not me the people will see when I dance; it will be Kids for Christ, it will be my God.”
