KFC Bond Camp

by Angel Molina (CFC Qatar)

Praise God! The KFC Qatar Father & Son Bond Camp was a success. It was held on February 25-26, 2010 in Al Ghariya Resort, more than 90 km away from Doha. For me this camp is a blessing from God because I know it is another opportunity for us to be able to see and feel God’s love for me and my son. Our son Jhun Jhun has a little bit of “attitude”, He is what you would call naughty and is quite hyperactive compared to his siblings. However, he is the most loving and thoughtful of all our three children and that more than makes up for the ‘headaches” he usually caused me.

Tito Angel and Jun-jun MolinaOur preparation for the Camp started with a lot of anticipation especially from Jhun Jhun. He was very excited when he learned that we will go to the Camp. You can see from him that he really waiting for the Big day. We went to the grocery a day before the camp to buy the things we will need. He was the one searching for all the items listed in our check list, making sure that we did not forget anything. On the day of the camp, he was so excited that he did not bothered to go to school (I allowed him to rest because I know we will have a long night).

Tito Raffy and RL PingulThe meeting time came and T2 Raffy together with RL his son arrived to pick us up and joined them in their car. After a long journey, we’re able to reach the camp at around 8pm. After the registration, we all had a dinner and worship was followed to officially start the Camp. It’s a joy to experience to worship the Lord together with your son, seeing him singing, praising, raising his hands for the Lord. Before the 1st Talk of T2 Sherwin, we had a breath catching activity called “Obstacle course” where we’ve learned how important to play as a team to solve any obstacle or problem we would encounter in our everyday life. Then T2 Sherwin delivered his talk, after that, I had a rare opportunity to have a one-to-one talk with my son. It was one of the few occasions that I feel I made a connection with him. I have learned new things from my son, his likes and dislikes, what he wants to be in his life, how much he loves his family. The night was ended as me and him preparing our beddings without the usual help of his mother.

Tito Sherwin and Sean BorrasThe next day was a day of more fun. They gathered near the beach to have a little bit of exercise as I was locked inside the house because I was preparing for my Talk, “Talk no.2 - Passing the Torch to my Son.” I am also excited because I will give this talk to my fellow fathers, while my eldest son, Nikko, who is a YFC, will also give talk to the kids at the same time, a rare opportunity and blessing indeed. After the exercise, they came back to the house and we cooked our own breakfast. We taught our sons how to prepare ingredients and how to cook them. Simple food, but most delicious food I’ve ever tasted because it was prepared by me and my son. Day 2 begun after another vibrant worship led by YFC music min. Then the kids were led to another area of the house to listen to Talk no.2 of Nikko, while we fathers stayed and I delivered the 2nd Talk. After that, we had another one to one with my son where we find a quiet place in the house and we talked more seriously this time. Assuring him of my love and support in everything he would want to do in his life. Embracing him and saying I love you that sometime I tend to forget to tell him.

A blessing indeed to me & my son and for sure, for all those who attended the camp. We went home safe and together with my son, Jhun Jhun and the rest of the family attended another activity of the CFC later in the afternoon. God bless us all.
