The Middle East Kids Village 2008 was a really great experience.

On the first day of Eid-Al-Fitr  (the end of Ramadan), I felt so excited and I was jumping for joy because it was held in the island country of Bahrain. It was my first time there.

When I saw the theme ‘Kid’s Power’ I couldn’t wait for what would happen, and I wasn’t disappointed. Lots of kids were there from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. I could meet other KFCs from other Arab Gulf countries.

The hosts of the Kids Village, Kuya Aneal and Ate Cherry were great. Even Tito Kirby and Tita Michelle Llaban, the KFC International Coordinators, were there! It was their first time in the Middle East.

I loved the songs we sang. I can’t get it out of my head, even till now! I loved it so much.

The thing I learned there was that God has given me the power to pray, to share, to build and many other abilities.

We prayed the Holy Rosary and we saw a play called ‘The Agency’ that showed us that God has given all His power to us. The next day, we also practiced those powers by doing workshops according to certain abilities such as Pray Power, Share Power and Build Power.

In Pray Power, we learned how to pray using the ACTS (Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving and Supplication) method, solved a rosary puzzle and wrote a prayer which was hung on a Christmas tree.

In Share Power, some kids made a poster about GK Sibol, while the others, including me, shared talents. Then, in Build Power, we discovered how to be fit using the food pyramid and how to spell my name in sign language. Y…U…J…I. Yes, I got it.

We collected stickers from each workshop station, so that we can get the prize, a ‘Kid’s Power’ badge. We also sold bags filled with trail mix for 1 Bahraini Dinar (more than 120 pesos) to the participants at the MEC conference for Couples for Christ. We made 34,000 pesos for GK!

The MEKV was great because I had learnt so much about this year’s theme. God would want me to use this power I have in the world. For example, I can pray for the people in this world, I can share my things to others, and I can help build the world to make it a better place.

It was the best! I made lots of new friends there. I look back on those two awesome days and I wish I can have the same experience next year and more. I thank our Lord Jesus for letting me do these things. I want to praise Him for the things He has done for me in the MEKV.

See all you KFC Middle East Kids Village next year in Qatar!
