The story of Stephanie Alexandra Quiatchon is one of the most touching and inspiring testimonies heard from the Kids for Christ School based program.  It has shown the insurmountable trust and confidence of a child to the greater wisdom of her Heavenly Father.
At a tender age of 4 years, her world crumbled when her parents parted ways. She was relocated away from the familiar environment where she grew up in and from the people she was most familiar with.  As the only child, she was left to the care of her paternal grandmother, Lola Bobot, who became the one constant guiding light in her life.   Although lovingly raised by her Lola, Steph grew up questioning why she was made to carry the burdens of her parents’ shortcomings.  She never understood why she has to be different from other kids as far as family life is concerned.  It reached to a point that she even blamed God for allowing many Christmases, birthdays, and other special days to pass without the warmth of a typical family.  Indeed, her parent’s absence made Steph’s heart struggle with resentment, bitterness and deep longing.
But God’s heart has the softest spot for children like Steph.  Three years ago, she was introduced to a deeper relationship with Jesus through the KFC School based program at Santa Isabel International Inclusive School in Iloilo City.  Her interest was initially piqued by the lively songs, animated Bible stories and fun games. Gradually however, she began internalizing the values imparted by the Bible.  She particularly identifies with the story of Esther who like her, was deprived of parental presence but was able to make good with her life and did so much for others.  Likewise, the Christian tenets of love, forgiveness and reconciliation embodied in the Parable of the Prodigal Son helped reinforced her understanding that everybody needs to forgive and be forgiven.  As time passed, she realized that she was given by Jesus the power to make a choice….. a choice that could either bring her closer to God and be happy or to run away and feel miserable all the time.  She opted to follow God, deeply believing that the Lord holds the best plans for her if only she will fully trust and obey.
Currently, Steph has everything a parent can wish for and be proud of in a child.  She has been a consistent honor student throughout her grade school years and graduated as the Most Outstanding Student of her class. Her excellence is not only limited to academics, she has represented her school in several athletic meets and literary-musical contests in the city and has countless medals to show for it.  Blessed with beauty, brains and talents, Steph remains simple, unassuming and kind-hearted; very loving and obedient to her elders.   Her Lola Bobot couldn’t be happier and thankful for all that Steph had become now.  She is very grateful to the CFC community for opening the doors of the Kids for Christ through the School based Program to kids whose parents are non-CFC members. In her senior years, Lola Bobot has become an ardent advocate of the KFC.
Steph feels very blessed to be named as one of the KFC Ambassadors.  She is taking the role seriously by regularly reading the Bible, constantly praying and maintaining the best loving relationship with everyone.  Steph now looks to the future with great optimism.  After graduating from the KFC, she eagerly awaits the role of an “Ate” in ROCK program.  Indeed, KFC became an instrument in bringing Jesus’ peace in her heart.  As thanksgiving, she vows to make use of her role as KFC Ambassador to spread Jesus’ love and proclaim God’s power and majesty to every child she encounters.
