KFC MM East A BEYOND BORDERS MISSION: ABRA

by Tita Cathy Cano (MM East A Sector Coordinator)

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for men. Remember that the Lord will give you as a reward what He has kept for His people. For Christ is the real Master you serve.” With just barely a few days before our May 19-20, 2012 Abra mission, the KFC-East A team only had 3 members: Marlo Morales (FTW), Tito Chito, and Tita Cathy Cano… panic mode! We were even considering the mission’s postponement to a later date… we wanted to “let go!”, but a voice kept whispering “don’t let go!” Then, came the thought that our service meeting will give the final verdict “to go or let go.” But after the meeting, the Lord’s plan prevailed East A – Abra mission team was now a 9-member team: 5 couple coordinators, 3 ROCK, and 1 FTW, so LET’S GO!

The KFC-East A team travelled 8 hours via Partas bus to Abra for a mission trip last May 18, 2012. It is indeed true that when you work for the Lord, the evil one works overtime. Prior to the short-period planning, there were conflicts – spiritual terrorism, fears, hurt feelings, doubts, health concerns, office work overload, financial concerns, manpower shortage, family, and other personal concerns and most of all when the other half of the mission team was left 2 hours behind because of the irregular bus trip schedule. Call it a battle … a struggle … but our perseverance and firm belief in the power of the Lord, not to mention our East A sector prayer warriors, saw us triumph over all these hurdles.

And finally, our sincerest gratitude to the Abra – AGT: Bro. Rudy & Sis. Dell Miranda, Bro. Tony & Sis. Anita Galsim, Bro. Rene & Sis. Luz Bona, and Bro. Sonny & Sis. Cathy Ballestra and the rest of the Abra service team for the very warm hospitality showed to the East A mission team. We never felt far from home with your team around… THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking good care of us! GOD bless you all! Mission accomplished! As shown and heard from the sharing or testimonies of the KFC campers and their parents in the concluding part of the camp. 2 Chronicles 15:7 “But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

Our mission was definitely and undeniably rewarded... 50 new KFC Abra and their revealing artistic talents, former CFCs renewing their commitments, inspired Abra ROCK Facilitators, strengthened bond among Abra CFC-KFC team, a new and blossoming friendship between Abra & MM East A KFC teams, and most of all, a greater and deeper relationship with the Lord, from whom all things come, and to whom this service and mission is offered in honor and glory! We left Manila, initially with our doubts and fears, but came back victorious . . . ON FIRE . . . and ABLAZED FOR YOU, LORD!
